As Founder and CEO, Michael does it all — and with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate consulting and valuation, he knows it all, too. Michael earned his MAI designation from The Appraisal Institute and is a state-certified general appraiser, real estate broker and senior property tax consultant. Founding Lane Property Tax Advocates in 2009, Michael has cultivated a team of real estate industry pros, representing commercial clients with assessments totaling more than $1.5 billion.
Known for his positive and energetic nature, Michael takes on a lot of responsibility to ensure the Lane team has everything necessary to help clients successfully protest their excessive commercial real estate property taxes. To that end, he oversees all communications, management, human resources and marketing, in addition to putting his analytical skills to use for client protests. But don't worry, Michael does have some free time, during which he enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and exercising. He's been known to be the king of the grill and can mix up a delicious cocktail or margarita — or pour you a nice glass of wine. This fun-loving family man has many talents and is the reason Lane is the successful company it is today, one which prides itself on customer service.
Michael is a Lifetime Committeeman with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and has served on numerous charity boards. He is an active member of the Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals (ACRP), the Houston Region Business Coalition (HRBC) and the Arkansas Alumni Houston Chapter, and is also a graduate of the West Houston Leadership Institute. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in business and majored in finance and real estate.
As Vice President of Lane Property Tax Advocates, Hunter has his eye on the target for our clients. From navigating commercial property owners through the protest process to advising on their behalf during arbitration and litigation, he's known for hitting bullseyes. Hunter's years of consulting experience equate to fair property tax assessments and maximum property tax savings across all accounts. This positive, big-hearted tax guru takes his job seriously. Hunter enjoys educating clients on tax law so they can benefit from significant tax savings as the result of strategic decisions.
While Hunter enjoys being the team captain at Lane, he also likes to be outdoors, whether hunting in Abilene or fishing on the lower Laguna Madre. He may be laid-back and patient, but just like he can cut up a dance floor or hit a straight shot, Hunter has mastered the art of persuasion.
Hunter earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in finance from McMurray University. He also holds a real estate salesperson license and is a property tax consultant.
